Provision of the Website and Server Log Files
To host our website and provide the web space, we use the services of world4you Internet Services GmbH, Hafenstraße 35, 4020 Linz, Austria. The provider processes technical access data (server logs) on our behalf and provides the storage infrastructure. A data processing agreement is in place with world4you.
When you visit our website, the web server automatically processes technical information transmitted by your browser:
- IP address of the requesting device
- Date and time of the request
- Requested address (URL)
- Access status (HTTP status code)
- Volume of transmitted data
- Browser type and version
- Operating system used
- Previously visited website (referrer URL)
These data are processed to deliver the website technically and ensure secure operation. The log files are deleted automatically after 14 days.
Membership, Registration, and User Account
When you apply for membership via our website and create a user account, we process the data you provide:
- Personal Details: Gender, title, first and last name, institution, country, type of membership (Corporate, Individual, Student, Senior)
- Contact details: Postal address (street, house number, postal code, city), email address, phone number, fax number
- Account Credentials: Username, password (exclusively stored in encrypted form)
- Payment Details: Selected payment method (bank transfer or SEPA direct debit) as well as bank details (IBAN, BIC, name of account holder) if direct debit is selected
- Confirmation: Consent to the society’s statutes
Purpose of Processing:
The data is processed to establish and manage your membership, collect and invoice membership fees, distribute society information, and provide and manage your personal access to the internal member area.
Retention Period:
Your membership and user account data will be stored for the duration of your active membership. Once membership ends, the user account is deactivated. Data subject to statutory tax and retention obligations (in particular receipts for membership fee payments) are retained for 7 years in accordance with legal requirements and subsequently deleted.
Access to Contact Details by Other Members (Member Directory)
Within the password-protected member area, a directory is available to other registered members. To foster scientific networking and professional exchange, the following details are visible to other logged-in members:
- Name (including title)
- Email address
- Institution
- Country
Under the terms of use, all members are required to treat the contact details of other members visible in the internal area as strictly confidential and use them solely for society-related purposes.
Data Transfer to the ECMM (Congress Discounts)
To enable you to benefit from the advantages of ÖGMM membership at international events (particularly discounted registration fees for congresses), we transfer the following contact details to our umbrella organization:

The transfer takes place to confirm your active membership for the purpose of granting the respective discounts and benefits.
