Our society was founded in the year 2000 to promote and represent Medical Mycology in Austria. The ÖGMM pursues the following goals:
Die ÖGMM verfolgt als Ziele:
- To provide a solid mycological platform with strong networking between all Austrian institutions and individuals for whom fungal infections are of importance
- To highlight good international contacts and collaborations
- To act as a partner and Austrian contact point for important issues regarding fungal infections
Tasks
In order to achieve these goals, the ÖGMM has set itself the following tasks:
- Organisation of congresses, symposia, and lectures
- Promotion of medical mycology and dissemination of current information in this field
- To support participation in national and international meetings by providing travel grants
- Encourage collaboration between individuals involved in medical mycology in the interest of scientific progress
- To encourage young scientists in the field
- To award prizes for publications
- Providing information about selected congresses with mycological topics
- Cooperation with other scientific societies
